PRACTICAL WEEK

Bringing Joy and Learning to Rural Schools

At BBD, learning extends far beyond the classroom walls. Our recent “Practical Week” was a testament to this, as we ventured into the heart of rural Taiwan to make a positive impact through education and community service.

Teaching with Heart: Fun and English Lessons

Our journey began with a visit to a local village school, where our BBD students transformed into enthusiastic teachers for the day. We prepared a series of engaging lessons and activities, mixing purely entertaining games with interactive English language sessions. Seeing the bright smiles on the children’s faces as they learned new words and participated in our games was incredibly rewarding. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to practice their communication and leadership skills in a real-world, dynamic environment, fostering cross-cultural understanding and a love for learning.

A Community Meal: Lunch at the ASD Church

After an inspiring morning of teaching, our team gathered for a warm and nourishing lunch at the local Adventist (ASD) church. This meal was more than just food; it was a moment of fellowship and reflection, allowing us to connect with the local community members and recharge our energy for the afternoon’s activities. The hospitality extended to us by the church members perfectly embodied the spirit of warmth and community that defines our BBD family.

Serving the Community: Street Clean-up

With full bellies and renewed spirits, we rolled up our sleeves for our next mission: community clean-up. Armed with gloves and trash bags, we walked through the village streets, diligently collecting litter. This act of service was a powerful reminder that contributing to a clean and healthy environment is everyone’s responsibility. It was a humble yet impactful way to show our gratitude to the village for welcoming us and to reinforce our commitment to being responsible global citizens.
