MOUNTAIN HIKING
More Than Just a Hike: How BBD Conquered the Waterfalls
When we say that BBD is a family, we don’t just mean sharing lunches in the cafeteria or cramming for exams in the library. We mean the moments when we conquer steep trails together, share a single bottle of water, and stand in awe of nature’s majesty. Our recent faculty-wide hiking trip to the waterfalls became another vibrant chapter in the history of our department.
The Climb: A Test of Character
Saturday morning began unusually early. While the rest of the TAC campus was still asleep, a group of BBD students and professors were already packing their rucksacks. Our destination: the hidden waterfalls of Nantou, tucked deep within the lush jungle.
The trail wasn’t always kind to us. Slippery rocks, high humidity, and steep inclines made even the most athletic among us break a sweat. But this is exactly where our faculty spirit shone the brightest. No one was left behind. “Take my hand!”, “Watch out, it’s slippery here,” “Just a bit further, you can already hear the water!” — these voices echoed from all sides. In business, just like in the mountains, it is vital to have someone by your side who will offer a helping hand at the right moment.
At the Foot of the Elements
When the roar of the water became deafening and the first mist broke through the thick foliage, our exhaustion vanished instantly. Before us opened a view that no camera could ever fully capture: tons of crystal-clear water crashing from a great height into a turquoise basin.
It was a moment of pure truth. We kicked off our shoes and stepped into the icy mountain water. Laughter, splashes, and genuine emotions — in that moment, there were no “professors” or “students,” just close friends enjoying the moment. We held a picnic right on the giant boulders, sharing sandwiches and stories that usually don’t get told in the lecture halls.
Coming Home
We returned to campus exhausted, soaked, and with muddy sneakers, but with eyes full of light. The bus was unusually quiet — some were sleeping on a friend’s shoulder, others were scrolling through the fresh photos.
This trip reminded us why we chose BBD. We aren’t just here for a degree. We are here for the memories that will last a lifetime. We are here to grow together.
The waterfalls have been conquered. New summits lie ahead. And we know one thing for sure: we will conquer them together!
