SUN MOON LAKE FIREWORKS

SUN MOON LAKE FIREWORKS

Sparkling Beginnings: Ringing in the New Year at Sun Moon Lake

There is no place on Earth quite like Sun Moon Lake, and there is no better way to see it than surrounded by the BBD family under a sky full of fireworks.

Located just a stone’s throw away from our campus, Sun Moon Lake is Taiwan’s most iconic alpine lake. Known for its emerald waters and the misty mountains that embrace it, the lake is divided by the tiny Lalu Island—shaped like a sun on one side and a crescent moon on the other. It is a place of peace, legend, and breathtaking beauty. But once a year, this tranquil sanctuary transforms into a stage for one of the most spectacular celebrations on the island.

The BBD Expedition

This New Year’s Eve, we decided to trade our textbooks for blankets and jackets. As the sun began to set, the BBD squad headed out toward the Shuishe Pier. The atmosphere was electric; the air was crisp, and the lakefront was buzzing with people from all over the world. We found our spot by the water, huddled together to stay warm, sharing snacks and laughter as the final hours of the year ticked away.
Waiting for the countdown is a BBD tradition in the making. In those moments of waiting, we reflected on the challenges of the past semester and the goals we’ve set for the future. Being there together reminded us that no matter how hard the journey gets, we have a team to lean on.

A Symphony of Light

As the countdown reached zero, the silence of the night was shattered by a thunderous boom. Suddenly, the dark sky above the lake erupted into a symphony of gold, crimson, and violet. The fireworks didn’t just light up the sky; they reflected perfectly on the mirror-like surface of the lake, creating a 360-degree world of light. For ten minutes, we stood in silence, mesmerized by the glowing canopy above us.

The fireworks at Sun Moon Lake aren’t just a show—they are a symbol of hope. As the last sparks faded into the night air, we hugged, took countless photos, and made a silent pact to make the coming year our best one yet.
New Year. New Goals. Same Family.
